HydroFloTech Oil/Water Separators Main Equipment Directory

"Follow this link "Oil Water/Separator Design Parameters" for information on the accurate design and sizing of Oil/Water Separators"

Oil/water separators are designed to separate free and dispersed oils and greases (as well as gross quantities of suspended solids) from wastewater or process streams, making it possible for sensitive downstream equipment to perform as designed. A properly designed oil/water separator will reduce your overall operating costs and improve overall system maintainability.

To meet these goals, HydroFlo manufactures three basic types of oil water separators: "API" type, "Enhanced Gravity" type (often referred to as a "coalescing" oil/water separator) and "Pressure Rated" type. All of these basic separator types are available in numerous models and configurations to meet your specific separation needs.

Oil/water separators are usually the first stage of any wastewater treatment system. However, in some cases, an oil water separator can be used as effective "end of pipe" treatment equipment.

Standard API Series Oil/Water Separators

The most severe applications are typically handled by an API oil/water separator. Designed around API published studies, they are ideal for treating waste-streams with viscous oils, greases and high total suspended solids loadings. Our API separators are designed to the highest standards available today, guaranteeing a risk-assessed, safe operation.

MaxiSep™ "Enhanced Gravity" Oil/Water Separators

oil water3

The MaxiSep™ (MS) Series oil/water separator is the most efficient and versatile separator on the market. Our MS series is built to adapt to changing process conditions with provisions to add a sludge auger or skimmer assembly in the future. It also has the capability to easily be converted into an API type separator or dissolved air flotation system.  The MS series is designed to handle flows up to 2,500+ gpm.

TotlSep™ "Enhanced Gravity" Oil/Water Separators

The TotlSep™ (TS) Series fiberglass (FRP) oil/water separator is our top of the line coalescing type gravity separator designed for use in a wide range of applications. Our TS series includes a sludge hopper, integral oil reservoir, and vapor tight lid assembly. The TS series is available in 7 sizes to handle flows up to 125 gpm.

EconoSep™ "Enhanced Gravity" Oil/Water Separators

The EconoSep™ (ES) Series stainless steel oil/water separator is our economy version coalescing type separator designed for use in a wide range of applications  Our ES series separators are configured to meet the low cost or light duty installation requirements that do not require the sludge hopper, integral oil reservoir, or vapor tight lid assemblies.

Pressure Rated 2, 3 & 4 Phase Separators

HydroFlo's pressure rated separators are designed for sophisticated process and wastewater applications. these heavy duty separators can be configured to separate a gas from a myriad of immiscible liquids and suspended solids or any immiscible liquids and solids of different specific gravity.

They are ideally suited for pressurized process loops where the installation of a non-pressurized gravity system would be impractical.

Replacement Media Packs

HydroFlo manufactures a broad line of media packs for oil water separators, inclined plate - parallel plate - type clarifiers, biological systems, etc... We can supply packs for both stand alone fabricated devices or large in ground systems.

Sized to handle any flow rate and designed to handle even the highest product loading ratios. HydroFlo media packs are designed and built to deliver state-of-the-art results and the longest service life achievable.

A wide variety of materials of construction are available to meet even the most demanding applications.

Many companies profess to design their separators around API pub 421 "Design and Operation of Oil/Water Separators"

In fact, I think you would be hard pressed to find a supplier who does not claim to design their separators around API 421. Unfortunately, most of these companies misunderstand much of the data and misinterpret many of the concepts and theories presented in this publication.

We take every aspect of the design of our separators very seriously. We analyze cross sectional velocities (actual, not nominal), length to height to width ratios (for proper overall flow distribution), laminar flow conditions and Reynolds calculations (for quiescent flow distribution), inlet flow distribution, effluent flow distribution, and every other criteria throughout the entire separator. Most other suppliers only solve for projected surface area, without consideration to any of the other design parameters.

HydroFlo Oil/Water Separators are designed to perform exactly as specified, day in and day out, giving you the consistent high quality results your process deserves.

HydroFlo supplies three phase separators for use in Kuwaiti oil fields.

These separators were originally designed to separate two different liquid phases. Upon installation they found that the equipment downstream suspended solids separators were no longer required because our equipment was also separating the suspended solids phase. We currently have dozens of units operating all over the globe.

HydroFlo meets Bechtel specification and supplies OWS to Elm Creek generating station

Bechtel is one of the most demanding engineering firms in business today. They supply their customers with the utmost in product and services and they expect the same from their suppliers. HydroFlo understands this and supplies exactly what the engineers demand and the customer expects. Quality product and quality documentation. Detailed engineering information is supplied covering every last component as well as through documentation covering every aspect of the project. As with all HydroFlo products, the equipment is designed to the highest standards and built to last a lifetime.

HydroFlo helps solve unique separation application...

Supplying equipment for installation on a barge can present you with some challenging issues. Suspend the equipment 65 feet below the barge and you have some truly unique challenges to overcome. These specially fabricated fiberglass separators (2 phase liquid / gas) are 12 feet in diameter and over 100 feet long. They operate in an extremely aggressive environment and the fact that they swing under the barges like giant pendulums presented us with some sizeable liquid loading issues. Combine this with the fact that the equipment had to be designed to operate both totally flooded or totally empty AND have a guaranteed lifespan of 28 years, etc... and you can start to understand some of the issues we had to overcome.
