Batch
pH Adjustment System
Engineering
Specifications
1.
APPLICATION
1.1.
Overall Process Description
1.1.1.
The batch pH adjustment system will be designed to adjust the
pH of a specific volume of process
water, wastewater or potable water stream to a specific
set-point. The reaction tank will measure the incoming pH, mix the
contents and automatically inject "acid" or "caustic" until the
contents reach the desired set-point.
1.2.
Required System Performance
1.2.1.
The batch pH adjustment system shall adjust the pH of a set
volume of water to the system set point. Where the pH of the system
influent is ????. The
treated water shall achieve a pH of
???? plus or minus ????.
2.
SCOPE
2.1.
The Skid
2.1.1.
A steel skid is provided for supporting the entire system.
The skid features a welded 4" steel "C" channel frame, a 1/4" steel
deck plate.
2.1.2.
A containment / drip pan shall be provided for protecting the
steel skid from leaking or spilled corrosive fluids. A drain
connection will be provided for plumbing the containment pan to a
suitable location. The pan will be fabricated from
polypropylene, stainless steel,
etc., and features 8" high walls.
2.2.
Reaction Tank
2.2.1.
A reaction tank is provided with
???? gallon capacity.
2.2.2.
The reaction tank will be manufactured of HDPE
polypropylene. The tank will be designed for fluids with a s.g. of
up to 1.9 with a safety factor of 2:1. The tank will have
provisions for positive ventilation. The top will be designed to
support all mounted equipment and the weight of one 200 lb. man
without significant deflection.
2.3.
Chemical Feed System
2.3.1.
Two (2) chemical metering pumps (LMI or equal) will be
provided for the addition of acid and caustic. The pumps will come
equipped with manual control for stroke length (20-100%) and stroke
frequency (5-100 per minute).
2.3.2.
One (1) pH probe (Signet or equal) will be provided.
2.3.3.
One controller (Signet or equal) will be provided, with LCD
display of 0-14 pH range. The controller is to be installed in a
NEMA 4 control panel.
2.3.4.
The pH controller will turn the acid or caustic pump on/off
via set points.
2.4.
Control Panel
2.4.1.
One (1) system control panel is provided with function
selector switches, pilot lights, relays, motor starters, and circuit
breakers. Panel includes a safety disconnect switch. The motor
contactors/starters shall be provided with re-settable thermal
overload protection. The control panel will be pre-mounted and
wired.
2.4.2.
Available Power = ????
V, ???? Hz,
???? phase
2.4.3.
NEMA Rating: NEMA 4, suitable for outdoor installations
